Farming Issues to Top Congress Manifesto for 2023 Telangana Polls, Says Rahul Gandhi

Hyderabad: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday that the party’s manifesto for the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections will be primarily focused on farming issues. He said the manifesto will be prepared after getting inputs from stakeholders and party leadership.

The Congress leader is continuing his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana. During his walkathon, Rahul Gandhi interacted with Telangana farmers and farmers’ representatives. He also met the widows of tenant farmers who committed suicide due to loss in crops.

Giving a brief of Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with the farmers, AICC General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said issues like suicides of tenant farmers, Dharani portal concerns and lack of crop insurance were discussed in the meeting.

“@RahulGandhi also promised that the Congress manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana will have a very sharp focus on farming issues and will be prepared after the widest possible consultations with all stakeholders,” Congress leader Ramesh tweeted.

Jairam Ramesh claimed that tenant farmers account for 80 percent of suicides since the formation of a new Telangana state. He also alleged that due to lack of crop insurance scheme, lakhs of farmers are living a miserable life.

Hyderabad: Overhead electrical equipment (OHE) failure was reported between Secunderabad and Lalaguda stations on Sunday night, after power lines reportedly snapped over a moving Intercity Express near Moulali. The incident occurred around 10 pm, caused a loud noise, following which the train was stopped near Moulali as a precaution. Some passengers reportedly stepped out of the train amid confusion. The South Central Railway officials immediately launched restoration measures. According to the railway authorities, there were no casualties or injuries in the incident. A few trains were detained or regulated for less than 10 minutes and were subsequently allowed to resume normal operations. Train No. 12795 Vijayawada–Lingampalli Express, which was detained in the section, was being moved towards Secunderabad. Railway authorities clarified that both up and down train services are now operating normally.

Bharat Jodo Yatra Resumes After 4-day Break in Telangana

After a gap of four days, the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed from Makthal in Narayanpet district of Telangana on Thursday. The yatra kicked off at 6.30 am from Makthal with State Congress president A Revanth Reddy, MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and a number of party leaders joining Gandhi. This is the second day of the yatra in the state. The Bharat Jodo Yatra entered the state via Gudebellur on October 23 morning, after exiting Karnataka from Raichur.
