Hyderabad: Authorities at Bowenpally vegetable market here were elated on Sunday after Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned their innovative project to convert vegetable waste into electricity and bio-fuel in his monthly radio programme ‘Mann ki baat’. “It’s a great news and encouragement for us.   Hyderabad:  Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav along with Labour Minister CH Malla Reddy will be inaugurating 264 double bedroom houses at Gandhi Nagar and Sairam Nagar, Secunderabad Cantonment Board on Friday. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) constructed these 264 double bedroom houses with a total cost of nearly Rs 20 crore. While, 200 houses were constructed at Gandhi Nagar with a cost of Rs 15.50 crore, another 64 houses have been constructed in Sairam nagar at a cost of Rs 4.96 crore. These double bedroom housing communities are equipped with all basic amenities, including underground drainage system, power supply, lift, fire safety, streetlights and others.   Hyderabad:  A foreign returnee from Hyderabad with a travel  history  has tested positive for the new Covid strain (B 117) of United Kingdom on Thursday. The samples of the international traveller were sent to Hyderabad-based Centre for Cellular and Molecular  Biology  (CCMB) for genomic analysis. Overall, five samples of individuals with a  history  of international travel had tested positive for the new strain of SARS-CoV-2 at CCMB out of which one individual was from Hyderabad while the remaining four were from Andhra Pradesh, senior  health  officials said. Immediately after the positive results, the district surveillance teams have isolated the Covid positive individual and are also in the process of identifying close contacts.   Hyderabad:  Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Thursday instructed officials to take precautionary steps as schools and colleges would reopen from February 1. Speaking after distributing 55,000 face masks and 55,000 sanitiser bottles on behalf of Talasani Trust to the District Education Officer (DEO), the Minister said the State government has issued orders permitting commencement of classes for IX and X students apart from intermediate and degree students. The Minister also brought to the notice of SPDCL CMD G Raghuma Reddy about disconnection of power supply to some government schools for not paying bills. Reddy, however, assured that the problem would be sorted out.   Second serosurvey indicates nearly 7% of country’s population was exposed Hyderabad:  The second nationwide serosurvey conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) across the country has indicated that nearly 7 per cent of the country’s population aged 10 years or above were exposed to SARS-CoV-2  infection  by August, 2020, with an estimated 74 million (7.4 crore) infections. The ICMR countrywide sero-surveillance study, which was published in the The Lancet journal on Wednesday, was held between August 18 and September 20, 2020, and involved collecting serum samples from 29,082 individuals hailing from 15,613 households across the country including Telangana.
