Hyderabad: Several teachers have opined that effective implementation of the ‘Mana Ooru-Mana Badi’ programme would be a game-changer for government schools across the State.
Apart from focussing on the infrastructure including the construction of new additional classrooms and new toilets as part of the programme, several teachers want the State government to provide digital equipment for audio-visual teaching in each classroom besides teaching aids. They also want the government to provide sanitary workers for all the government schools and timely release of school grants for maintaining the schools.
To improve the quality of education, teachers stressed the immediate need for recruiting new teachers in the existing vacancies.
While welcoming the State government’s decision to introduce English medium of education in all government schools, the teachers urged the government to initiate steps for training in-service teachers in English communication skills. “It’s a good decision to introduce English medium in government schools. This will help students in the long run as all the competitive examinations are being mostly conducted in English,” Progressive Recognised Teachers’ union (PRTU) Telangana president, P Sripal Reddy said.
