Indian police detain 3 activists, search woman volunteer's home for 9 hrs over kite campaign for Gaza

🇮🇳🪁🇵🇸 Mumbai Police detained three pro-Palestine activists and searched the home of a woman volunteer following their participation in the Global Gaza Kite Weekend, an international campaign held in solidarity with children in Gaza, according to Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine (IPSP).

The group said plainclothes personnel identifying themselves as police officers entered the home of IPSP volunteer Harshada, detained her and later returned with uniformed officers to conduct a search.

IPSP said that the search was carried out without a warrant, written notice or other authorising document, and that police confiscated some of Harshada’s belongings.

Two other volunteers involved in the kite-flying campaign were also detained and questioned, the group said. In an update issued at 2:15 a.m., IPSP said police had remained at Harshada’s residence for more than nine hours after the search began.

The organisation condemned the action and called for accountability, while the report did not include a response
