Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here, Praveen Kumar said Mahesh and Mahender Reddy, who were summoned for questioning in connection with the September 7 Assembly incident, were deliberately made to wait at the police station on the day of the Vinayaka Chavithi festival. He said there was no police officer available until afternoon and power supply to the station was cut for some time.
The BRS leader questioned why the duo were questioned like terrorists in a dark room of the police station. He stated that around 15 masked men entered the police station and attempted to attack the duo, but none of them were apprehended. “I request DCP Shilpavalli to explain how such an attempt could be made and all the miscreants escaped, despite the presence of the police inside a police station,” he asked.
He alleged that the police had registered cases against BRS leaders in the Assembly incident, but were refusing to even accept complaints lodged by the party over alleged attacks on former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s residence and BRS legislators. He also accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of using the police against the Opposition, while law and order was deteriorating across the State.
Stating that the police had failed to protect people, Praveen Kumar urged DGP CV Anand and Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar to explain why the police were refusing to take complaints from BRS leaders. He demanded registration of FIRs in all cases filed by the BRS and sought a special SIT to monitor the process. “We will continue our fight until our cases are registered,” he said.
